Pre-treating for water inflow
Most current SDPs in refineries use oil removal—floatation—biotreatment process. This process has high requirements for the quality of water inflow according to SH 3080-1999 Standards for water feeding and water discharging in petrochemical industry. Without pre-treatment, the water inflow for disposal plant cannot meet the standard.
For most refineries, the reason that their SDP cannot perform full function lies in the fact that the high waste content water, such as waste lye, sulfur and nitrogen containing wastewater, wastewater from SDP sludge unit, high concentration wastewater from oil tank is not pre-treated.
With FRIPP’s technology, the above wastewater can be pre-treated so that they meet SH 3080-1999 water standard before secondary bio-processing.
Revamping of surface aeration pool
The surface aeration pool of refinery SDP has man defects in not only water inflow and aeration modes, but also sediment and water discharging, resulting in low cleaning efficiency and large sludge loss. Besides, it cannot remove nitrogen-containing wastes.
In order to increase the capacity of SDP and realize qualified discharging, FRIPP developed the revamping technology for surface aeration pool by transforming the operation mode of surface aeration pool from co-building to SBR so that the COD, ammonia nitrogen, petroleum components, sulfides and volatile phenols in discharging water meet the GB 8978-96 (Standard for comprehensive wastewater discharging) and realizing real wastewater cleaning and qualified discharging.
Automatic monitoring/controlling system
Limited by sampling and analyzing conditions, it’s impossible to completely prevent high concentration wastewater from affecting SDP. A solution besides strengthening pre-treatment for wastewater and regular management of the plant is to install an automatic monitoring system for water quality and quantity at the water inflow point of SDP so that the quality and quantity of wastewater can be real-time monitored. The parameters for water quality are pH, COD, petroleum components, suspended solids, temperature, and etc. The accuracy of the controlling equipment can be a little lower because it is only for process control. With this system, it is possible to automatically transfer wastewater that is not qualified in quality or quantity to adjustment pool. When the quality and quantity of wastewater is back to normal, the system is automatically changed back to normal operation and wastewater in the adjustment pool is mixed with untreated wastewater and resent back to SDP. Through the above practice, we can make sure that the SDP is under normal operation with process and control methods. |

1.properties and Usage
Chlorinated rubber is made from natural rubber or synthetic rubber by chlorination, it enjoys many unique properties, which are antifriction, resistance to corrosion, quickly drying, and excellent conglutination, anti-water penetration, as well as fire retarder .The main factor to affect property of chlorinated rubber is its molecular weight or its viscidity to character molecular weight .On the whole, with increase of its viscidity, its service durability and gloss retentively rise ;but, as paint, its properties easy to disperse, to brush, to spray and its compatibility as well as its solvent precipitation all decrease .
Being divided into the varied models according to its molecular weight or the value of its viscidity .Chlorinated rubber is mainly used in fields of printing ink .paint and gluing agent, etc .Ronghly, the lower viscidity (<10cp) is used as the additive of printing ink ;the middle (10~30cp) is used to make (100~300cp) is used to make gluing agent .The condition of its application at home and abroad indicates that the product with middle viscidity is widely used in paint .In aspect of paint, roadsign coating, shipping coating, container coating .building coating, swimming pool coating and flame retardant coating are the main fields of chlorinated rubber’s application .

3.The process route of aqueous phased method
Comparing with the traditional technology of solvent method, the aqueous phased method developed by our Academy has the following obvious advantages:
1) The process of aqueous phased method is simple, also leave out the steps of solvent recovery and dry as well as its relation equipments .
2) The coat of production is cower, because of omitting a great amount of material-CCl4 in aqueous phased process .
3) The aqueous phased process eliminates the environmental pollution of CCl4, improves the environment of productive operation, and protects the health of workers, at the same time, omits the waste water treatment of CCl4 as well as the relative equipments .
4) Comparing with the solvent method, the aqueous phased method would require less investment in equipments, equal to about 2/3 of investment of the solvent method.
5) The consumption of energy is lower during aqueous phased process .
6) Chlorinated rubber products made by aqueous phased method are superior to the ones made by solvent method in its many properties.

Dilute hydrochloric acid in this process can be used by circulation. After washing, the diluted acid is neutralized by lime ,then is drained off after reaching the standard of discharge.

Brief: |
The development of road traffic calls for increasingly strict requirements for the anti-plastic deformation performance, anti-cracking performance and durability of roads. Adding polymers to paving asphalts has been proved to be a good solution. However, polymer and asphalt show big isolation inclination due to their different physical and chemical characteristics, which makes stable asphalt hot very difficult.
FRIPP has carried out extensive study and determined the technical plan for improving the storage stability of paving asphalt by adding stabilizers. Table 2 lists the main specifications of the commercial SBS modifies asphalts from 5 crude oils under proper processes. The data show that the asphalt products meet the JTJ036-98 standard.

Emulsified asphalt is an energy-saving environment-friendly material for road construction. FRIPP has developed two kinds of asphalt emulsifiers, anion type and cation type. Emulsified asphalt produced with cation type emulsifier can mix well with aggregates and fits for road pavement, maintenance, and slurry seal coat. The technology was commercialized in Guangzhou Petrochemical Company in 1993 and the produced asphalt was used in road construction in Heyuan Guangdong, Dandong Liaoning, and etc.
FRIPP developed two kinds of anion type emulsifier, L-1 and L-2. The former, used for producing slow-cracking emulsified asphalt in slurry seal coat and for agitation construction, has been applied in Liaoning, Hebei and other places with good results. The latter is for producing fast-cracking emulsified asphalt and rubber modified asphalt, whose application in Fushun Asphalt Felt Factory showed that using L-10 to produce waterproof material has strengths such as energy saving, no pollution, easy operation and long durability. The asphalt latex, produced with L-10, was granted Chinese patent in 1994.

FRIPP has begun to develop premium quality roofing asphalt and waterproof materials since the end of 1980s. The catalytic oxidation process developed by FRIPP can extend the elasticity range of asphalt and greatly improve the performances of asphalt under high/low temperatures. This technology has been applied in Fushun Asphalt Felt Factory with the products meeting ASTM D312 and ASTM D449.
On the basis of the development of roofing asphalt, FRIPP carried out studies on medium and top grades of waterproof materials.
Through improving the special process and enhancing good mixture of polymer and asphalt, the medium grade waterproof product has heat resistance over 90℃ and flexibility lower than -2℃, free from the problem of “heat flowing and cold cracking” which is common among ordinary roofing asphalts; the top grade waterproof product has its elasticity range greatly broadened with its heat resistance over 90℃ and flexibility lower than -25℃. Both products meet the UNE104-281 of Spain.

The increase of organic sulfur compounds in sulfur and amine wastewater increases the difficulty for amine sweetening. Current amine sweetening system mostly combines amine crystallizing and sulfur removing, but is not efficient in removing all organic sulfur compounds from the by-product ammonia, resulting poor quality for the ammonia.
To address this problem, FRIPP carried out optimization and revamp for the tri-stage condensation system and the amine crystallizer, and is developing efficient desulfurizer that has high organic sulfur removing activity. At the same time, an analysis method has been developed for determining the contents of hydrogen sulfide and organic sulfur in ammonia.

Stripper water, if operating conditions allow, is reused for electrical desalting, catalytic rich gas washing, and etc, which not only save fresh water, but also decrease the load for sewage disposal plants. If not to be reused, the stripper water has to go to sewage disposal plants (SDP). But the ammonia nitrogen and sulfides left in the water may still cause unstable operation or even breaking down for the sewage disposal system. Therefore, FRIPP developed the intermittent activated sludge (SBR) technology.
Using this technology, operation time can be flexibly determined and adjusted according to the treat water quality and the requirements of sewage disposal plants for water inflow and outflow so that the treating depth can be well controlled. The stripper water can also be separately treated for qualified discharging. High flexibility, wide adaptability, and good nitrogen and carbon removing performance are the unique characteristics of this technology. |

Brief: |
Alkali wash is an important treating method for gasoline, kerosene, diesel and other liquid hydrocarbons. However, the waste lye is one of the main pollutants in refineries.
FRIPP has successfully developed the mild wet oxidation (WAO)—stage intermittent activated sludge (SBR) combined process (including three patents and exclusive technologies for WAO reactor, recycling cooler, automatic control, and etc.). This combined process is a good approach to the treating of waste lye in refineries.
With this technology, the 2-valent sulfur can be transformed into sulphate and sulphite under mild temperature and pressure, and the contents and discharging of hydrogen sulfide and the total non-methane hydrocarbons are much lower than the limits stipulated in the Overall discharging standard for air pollutants. At the same time, the compounds, which is difficult to be removed via biodegradation, are oxidized into low molecule organic acids/aldehyde, and etc that can be easily biodegraded, which greatly increased the biology of the waste lye. Besides, the COD content and volatile phenols in waste lye are greatly decreased, COD is lower than 500mg/L and the volatile phenol is lower than 10 mg/L in the water outflow.
This technology has been applied in Daqing Petrochemical Works, Anqing Petrochemical Works, Dalian Petrochemical Company and etc. |
