1927年生，49年浙江大学化学系毕业，毕业后留校在化学任教。 52年调至复旦大学化学系 55年至94年在兰州大学化学系任教 94年4月调回浙江大学化学系 79年晋升为教授 81年批准为我国首批博士生导师 91年当选为中国科学院院士兼任中国化学会常务理事，国家教委科技委员会成员，《化学学报》、《高等学校化学学报》等刊物编委。
