SUBJECT: Redox Modulation Of Health And Disease: From Inorganic Chemistry to Translational Medicine
DATE: 2013-07-20
LOCATION: Erlangen, Germany, Europe
CONTENT: Official Information:

Increased challenges in health care urgently call for the development and exploitation of less conventional, redox active molecules that meet the biomedical requirements of the time ahead of us. Chronic inflammation, pain and accelerated ageing are important problems in many autoimmune, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases.

This conference will focus on latest developments of redox active metal-based compounds as therapeutics as well as diagnostic and bio-imaging tools.

Special focus will be on modulation of cellular signaling by redox active inorganic molecules and their (patho)physiological consequences. The interplay of gasotransmitters (NO and H2S) and subsequent changes of cellular signaling as potential targets for cell rescuing will be discussed.

Plenary Speakers: S.J. Lippard (MIT, Cambridge), C.J. Schofield (University of Oxford, UK), R.V. Banerjee (University of Michigan, USA), J. Sessler (University of Texas at Austin, USA), I. Batinic-Haberle (Duke University, USA), B. Brüne (Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany), R. Brigelius-Flohe (Institute of Human Nutrition, Potsdam, Germany, B. Alvarez (University of Montevideo, Uruguay)
